December Family Read Night Theme – Holiday Lights & Family Nights
December’s Family Read Night is all about cozy moments, holiday traditions, and spending meaningful time together. This month’s chapter picks invite families to slow down, share stories, and talk about what the season means to them.
How It Works:
Each month, our two regional chapters—New Jersey in the Northern Region and Georgia in the Southern Region—select a featured Family Read Night book. December’s selections highlight warmth, kindness, and holiday togetherness to help families celebrate the season through storytime.
Families who sign up commit to reading the selected book together at least once a week. You may read the full book in one cozy sitting or enjoy it in small sections throughout the month—whatever fits your family’s holiday schedule. The goal is simple: create meaningful moments together.
Instead of competitions, each month features interactive, themed activities inspired by the selected book. December’s holiday event includes:
• Story-Based Adventures
– Follow clues, complete fun tasks, or explore themes from the book.
• Holiday Craft Moments
– Create ornaments, wish leaves, bookmarks, or character-inspired crafts.
• Family Sharing Time
– Share a favorite moment, a holiday tradition, or a wish for the new year.
• Optional Photo Wall Submission
– Families can upload a festive reading photo for our TRC Holiday Photo Wall.
These activities are designed to promote bonding, creativity, and joy—no points, no judges, just pure family fun.
Families who participate may receive surprise gifts such as:
• bonus books
• holiday-themed reading accessories
• TRC shoutouts
• participation certificates
• family spotlight features on TRC social pages
These treats celebrate your commitment to reading while spreading holiday cheer.
Family Bonding: Spend meaningful, peaceful time together during a busy season.
Holiday Joy: Create magical memories through books, crafts, and shared traditions.
Community Connection: Engage with other TRC families in both regions and share the warmth of the season.
Love of Reading: Build a foundation of storytelling and imagination that lasts all year long.
